I’ve really enjoyed reading Theology for Ministry. Written by different authors, each chapter tackles a theological subject and makes application for those who serve in ministry. Topics include the Trinity, providence, the person and work of Christ, Christian liberty, the church, eschatology, etc. The book was written to honor Sinclair Ferguson, “a model pastor-theologian in our day.

Rightly understood, theology should move us into doxology which should result in life application. Theology for Ministry makes that connection. Personally speaking, it’s easy to just turn into a sermon writer and miss the vital exercise of processing the Word in my own heart. We have far too many theologians who are all brains and no heart. Theology for Ministry is an encouraging word written for us as ministry leaders to receive.

I recommend this book for all who serve the Lord’s church in some capacity. It’s encouraging, it’s engaging, and not overly wordy. Maybe use it devotionally and just read a chapter a week?
